Saturday Learn-to-Swim Program: NSEA Swim offers free group lessons for children and adults at the Earl Jackson pool two or three Saturdays every month during the off-season. We offer the following classes based on age or skill level, and these are held multiple times on Saturday to accommodate all schedules.
Littles and Loved Ones:
Littles and Loved ones lessons are designed for children between the ages of 6 months and approximately 3 years, and their parents or caregivers. The purpose of the course is to familiarize children with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. In addition Littles and Loved ones provides safety information for parents and teaches parents/caregivers techniques they can use to help orient their children to the water. There is a small fee associated with these lessons. Scholarships are available upon request.
Preschool Learn to Swim 1, 2, and 3:
Preschool lessons are designed for children approximately 4 and 5 years of age. The purpose of the course is to facilitate developmentally appropriate learning of fundamental water safety and aquatic skills. Students must be potty trained, and comfortable participating without a parent or guardian in water, or directly poolside, to encourage building trust with instructors.
Learn to Swim 1, 2, and 3:
The objective of Learn-to-Swim Levels 1-3 is to teach children and young teens to be safe in, on and around the water and to swim well. Water safety skills are taught in a logical progression of levels, Students in level 1 start to gain some basic skills in each category. As they progress through the levels, students build on their basic skills and refine various strokes.
Advanced Learn to Swim 4, 5, and 6:
These advanced level classes focus on the specifics of each stroke (backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle, and butterfly) and increase endurance in distance/ length of time swimming. There is a fee associated with this level of swim lessons. Scholarships are available upon request.
Adult Lessons:
Adult lessons are intended for older teens and adults wishing to improve their knowledge and skills in the water. Adult swim builds to several levels depending on the individual's wants: Learning the Basics Skills, Swimming strokes, and Swimming for Fitness.
